The See of the Sacered Fig Tree
The Seed of the Sacred Fig Tree (original title "Dane-ye anjir-e ma'abed")
"The Seed of the Sacred Fig (Persian: دانهی انجیر معابد, romanized: Dāne-ye anjīr-e ma'ābed) is a 2024 political drama film written, co-produced and directed by Mohammad Rasoulof. Its plot centers on Iman, an investigating judge in the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, who grapples with paranoia as nationwide political protests due to the death of a young woman intensify and his gun mysteriously disappears, making him distrust his wife and daughters.[3] It stars Soheila Golestani, Missagh Zareh, Mahsa Rostami and Setareh Maleki. The fictional narrative is combined with real images of the 2022–2023 protests in Iran that were violently suppressed by Iranian authorities."

It is a very moving and disturbing film about the clash between now and then in Iran. This is shown in the form of the two daughters curiosity towards the events surrounding them at the time of the Mahsa Amini protest, and the tradionalist father Iman holding on to his, and the Islamic Republic's, believe in their values and laws, which he is upholding as a public investing jugde. In the "middle" we find the wife and mother trying to uphold a tradional family life and somehow reaching out to her daughters.
It was difficult to make the film, it was filmed in the secret and was done over a period of about 70 days. The footage was smuggled to Hamburg, where it was edited and added some post-production material in the form of real images from protests on the streets of Tehran.
